<\/center>Have you ever been to this kind of Fair before?
I’ve been to Essenspiel in Germany but I spent from the age of 8 to the age of 16 going to sci-fi fantasy conventions all over the world, so I’m sort of familiar with how it works.
You’re a big gamer yourself I assume?
Yeah I’ve been a gamer since I was six years old. My father was a very big gamer himself and very into electronics so he had robots and stuff. He always had the latest computer and I would sit with him and play his games. In games with maps you really didn’t have a lot of different maps, they were all very isometric, so I would sit next to him and draw the maps. So I’ve been in contact with games for over two and a half decades. I think it really helped me in my work because I understand how gameplay works for that is very important for gamers. Working together with designers and developers, and the other people who are creating video games is so much easier when you’ve got the same vocabulary. And that has been very useful to me and I think it’s good when you work with designers you can meet on a common ground. I don’t play as many games as I used to because I spend too much time writing them, but I still love games.
Have you played some of the games you’ve worked on? Like Mirror’s Edge and Prince of Persia?
I haven’t played Mirror’s Edge because I think I would be shit at it to be fair. I think it’s probably a little hardcore for me. I can’t believe I’m saying that but I’d probably be pretty bad at it. I played it a little bit very early on and it’s kind of okay when you get the hang of it but I think it has a fairly steep learning curve and I think I would spend a lot of time falling of buildings. I have played a fair amount of Overlord. I didn’t write the main script for Prince of Persia, I was only an additional dialog writer so I did the conversations between the Prince and Elika and some of the boss fights. Heavenly Sword - I’ve seen it been played. The truth is I don’t really own a PS3, which is a bit of a shame so from the games I worked on I played Overlord the most. It can be a bit weird to play games you’ve worked on because you’re always seeing ‘that bit of dialog didn’t came out to well’ or ‘ow they cut that bit out’ and can be kind of a painful experience sometimes so I tend to avoid playing the games that I worked on for that reason.
You’re very critical about your own work?
Yes, but I think any creative person is. It’s like some actors don’t like to watch themselves on the screen or don’t like to read reviews. I think it can be quite a frustrating process . But you know, I’m familiar with the game play and I know what goes on in, for example, Overlord II, so I don’t really have to play it on some levels but I will probably play all the Overlord games or I’ll watch my boyfriend play them.
So you don’t own a PS3, how about a Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360 or something else nowadays?
I have Nintendo Wii, an Xbox 360, a DS, a PS2, a PSP, so the PS3 is the only thing I don’t have. I kept trying to persuade Sony to let me have one to play Heavenly Sword, because I was doing a lot of free promotion for them. They kept saying ‘We’ll give you a PS3’ and they kept passing me from person to person and still I don’t have one. But on the other hand; I saw pretty much everything of Heavenly Sword while I was there. You spend so much time watching designers play through levels and they come to you for places where a dialog is needed, so it kinda feels like you’ve played it anyway.

HET IS THE NETHERLANDS

Well done, Nebo!! Was leuk dagje he?

Gekkie.
Is dit toevallig de scenarioschrijvende dochter van?
