De Assassin's Creed-reeks staat bekend om hun geschiedkundige kennis en met Assassin's Creed III zal dit niet veranderen. We gaan kennis maken met Benjamin Franklin en zijn liefde voor vrouwen. In een interview met Penny Arcade Report gaat creative director Alex Hutchinson dieper in op de onbekende kanten van de beste man.
Hutchinson vertelt onder meer dat Franklin een vreemde manier had om vrouwen te selecteren met wie hij het bed wilde delen. "Franklin once made the argument that if you’re going to take a mistress, you should take an older woman for your companion. He said that women dry out, but they dry out from the top down, and therefore the bits that you need never dry out. I know we’re going to get complaints, but this is all public record.”
Daarnaast wordt er ook wat meer verteld over de mensen die je mag doden. Zoals altijd moet elk doelwit een bestaand persoon zijn die ook nog in datzelfde jaar gestorven is. Er stierven tijdens de Amerikaanse Revolutie geen grote namen waardoor het moeilijk was om geschikte slachtoffers te vinden.
“In the American Revolution, no one of note dies. None of the founding fathers die, all the generals of the British Army pretty much die of old age back in England. Only poor people died. And those poor folk are eclipsed in the shadow of the (surviving) major historical figures of the era.
Luckily, the setting allowed for a wide variety of people who were into less than legal pursuits. This opened up many doors for the game’s narrative. We had to find people who died, and then find out what they were doing. Many people were in semi-shady stuff, whether it was slavery or they were running counterfeiting rings. It’s a new country, so it’s the Wild West.”
Assassin's Creed III moet in oktober van dit jaar uitkomen voor PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 en Windows. Later verschijnt er ook een Wii-U versie.
