Golden Joystick Awards 2004

Future Publishing heeft de uitslagen van de Golden Joystick Awards van 2004 bekend gemaakt. In totaal hebben 200.000 mensen gestemd op hun favoriete spel en hardware, die een releasedatum hadden tussen 14 november 2003 en 28 oktober 2004.

Warren Spector, gekozen tot Hall of Fame Industry Personality van het jaar, mag zich de opvolger noemen van Shigeru Miyamoto die vorig jaar deze prestigeuze award had gewonnen.

Doom 3 is het enige spel dat twee awards heeft binnengesleept, namelijk PC game of the Year en de Ultimate Game of the Year. Hiermee is het spel onder ander Far Cry, Fable en Pro Evolution Soccer 4 voor gebleven.

Publisher Electronic Arts heeft drie awards in de wacht weten te slepen:
Burnout 3: Takedown (Playstation 2 Game of the Year)
Battlefield Vietnam (Online Game of the Year)
Publisher of the Year, omdat ze voor 12 maanden de verkoopcharts hebben gedomineerd.

Nintendo heeft het net zoals Electronic Arts goed gedaan en heeft ook drie awards binnen gesleept. Mario Kart: Double Dash (Gamecube Game of the Year, GBA SP NES Classic Edition (Hardware of the Year) en de nieuwe Legend of Zelda (Most Wanted Game For 2005) hebben de prijzen binnengehaald voor Nintendo.

De luisteraars van het radio programma Colin and Edith Show hebben Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas uitgeroepen tot Most Wanted For Xmas. De lezers van The Sun hebben gekozen voor Sonic The Hedgehog als Ultimate Gaming Hero.

Fable is tot beste Xbox Game of the Year bekroond en Sonic Advance 3 heeft de award binnen gehaald voor Handheld Game of the Year.

De twee editor awards, gekozen door het personeel van Future Publishing, zijn gegaan naar Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Editors Award: Game of the Year) en naar The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Editor's Award: Unsung Hero Game of the Year).

Als beste winkelketen van het jaar is Amazon.co.uk verkozen boven GAME en play.com.
